Two dogs are thrice the work

A couple of weeks ago I was working on a pair of lovely whippets, both of whom belonged to a couple who doted on them. I love making whippets, so it should be a dream, right?

Well… yes, but… I really enjoyed the whole process, don’t get me wrong, but making two dogs for the same household is a challenge in itself, considering both have to end up making sense when paired with each other. Can you imagine my customer’s face if I made their German Shepherd and Chiwawa the same size?

I had to make both dogs roughly at the same time and, to someone who likes to make one thing at a time, it was a good mental exercise/war.
“But you’re not done with Wilma, why are you making Nellie already?”
“Shush, their sizes need to make sense”
“But you haven’t finished one of them! Surely this is one of the signs of the Apocalypse, unfinished whippets?”
“Yes, yes it is. Now leave me alone.”
“Fear the end of the world!”
“Right.”
And people wonder why I don’t go out more.
